Jen here. So here are the requirements for this assignment. I thought I should get a discussion up and running for this. For now we need to settle on a KLA to take this Wiki\/Resource\/Lesson Plan assignment off with. What do you guys think would be a suitable KLA for this purpose?
\n
\nAssignment Criteria:
\nAs a group, view the multimodal texts produced by group members in the week 6 tutorial. Choose one of these as an example of a multimodal text you will ask students to create at the end of an integrated unit of work based on an identified syllabus outcome.
\n
\nThe group will choose a KLA other than English and identify a focus outcome from the relevant syllabus at Stage 2. It might be, for example:
\n
\nLTS2.3 Identifies and describes the structure and function of living things and ways in which living things interact with other living things and their environment. (Science and Technology)
\n3. Think carefully as a group about the range of resources you might need to teach your class the content information from your chosen KLA that students will need to be able to create the multimodal text. Consider especially how you would explore the English and literacy demands (visual and written grammar, multimodality). Backward map from the multimodal text to decide together on the specifics of what a logical teaching sequence might look like. This planning stage is crucial to the development of the assignment.
\n
\nEach person is to add a post to the wiki describing a resource for the teaching of the outcome that supports the learning needed to create the multimodal text. The resource description should include the resource itself or a representation of it, should have a brief explanation and a rationale (up to 500 words) as to its relevance to the KLA outcome and what aspect of literacy could be explored. References should be included. Resources should include (but are not limited to) the following: a video, an image, a website, a piece of written text, other (documentary excerpt, wiki, blog, non-fiction picture book etc...).
\n
\n4. Write an overview and summary of a unit of work which would incorporate approximately 10 lessons to achieve the focus outcome, and equip students with the content knowledge to produce their multimodal text. This unit of work will include the following: some initial activities and building the field of knowledge work, 4 key lessons (see below, point 5) which focus on the teaching of English and Literacy based on the resources chosen in point 3, and then a final series of lessons or activities which concentrate on students' completion of the mutimodal text.
\n
\n5. Develop a logical sequence of 4 lessons which focus on the teaching of English and Literacy based on the resources identified in the wiki. The lesson sequence (which should be posted on the wiki to later be shared with other groups) should include:
\n
\na) An introduction to the content of the focus outcome using 1 of the resources
\n
\nb) A lesson using 1 or 2 resources which focus on the written grammar required to develop students' knowledge of the content of the focus outcome
\n
\nc) A lesson using 1 or 2 resources which focus on the visual grammar required to develop students' knowledge of the content of the focus outcome
\n
\nd) A lesson which provides the scaffolding for creating an aspect, written or visual, of the multimodal text.
\n
\nNote: You should submit a hard copy of the group assignment which includes the following printed material:
\n
\nassignment cover sheet
\nPoint 4, overview and summary of a unit of work (Note: do not include the 5 lesson plans)
\nAll other aspects of the task will be accessed from the group's wiki.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]},{"id":"41429265","dateCreated":"1313503180","smartDate":"Aug 16, 2011","userCreated":{"username":"jharn","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/jharn","imageUrl":"https:\/\/ssl.wikicdn.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"},"monitored":false,"locked":false,"links":{"self":"https:\/\/wickedwikiwomen.wikispaces.com\/share\/view\/41429265"},"dateDigested":1532428013,"startDate":null,"sharedType":"discussion","title":"Hi everyone","description":"Hey guys!
\nFirstly, thanks to Grace for making this wiki - although I was supposed to do it, she volunteered and made it! So, it was originally meant to be called wiki-ed, but the story is that that domain was already taken. So hopefully this name is ok lol :)
\nWe will all see each other tomorrow to discuss what needs to be done here so for now, a big hello, fellow wickedwikiwomen.
